November 16, 2010 is a Philippine National Holiday

Malacañang Palace has declared Tuesday, the 16th of November 2010, as a national holiday in celebration of Eid'l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the two greatest feasts of Islam. The said proclamation was made pursuant to Republic Act 9849.

Eid'l Adha celebrations start after the pilgrims on the Hajj, the Muslim's annual piligrimage to Mecca, descend from Mount Arafat. Each family would sacrifice a domestic animal and divide its meat into three equal parts. One part is for the family, the second part is given to relatives, and the third part is given to the poor and needy.
