Baclayon Church

6th stop of our Bohol Countryside Tour, Day 2 in Bohol (January 29 - 31, 2010).




The Church of the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception in in Baclayon, Bohol is considered as one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. A visita was built in the same spot in 1595 with the arrival of Jesuit priests in the Philippines. However, it was only in 1717 that Baclayon became a parish which began the construction of the church. Around 200 workers constructed the church until it was completed in 1727. Later in 1835, the church's bell was installed.

Peñafrancia 2010 Fluvial Procession

I've been to Naga City for so many times now. In fact, it's been barely a month when I went to the city to finish some transactions in the municipal office. But it's the first time that I have ever witnessed the famed fluvial procession of the Virgin of Peñafrancia : Mother of Bicol. My husband warned me about the crowds but I am super thankful to Ina that I was able to brave my way through the throngs of people duriung the procession.

September 10, 2010 is a Philippine Non-Working Holiday

Malacañang Palace has declared September 10, 2010 as a non-working holiday in celebration of Eid ul-Fitr or the end of Ramadan. President Noynoy Aquino signed Proclamation 26 to formally declare this day as a holiday.
