Looking for a tour guide in Cebu?

Our first summer destination for 2012 was Cebu. Since it was also our first time to visit the place, I was clueless on how to start planning our trip. All I knew were the tourist spots and landmarks that I learned from my history and social studies textbooks. It also didn't help that I don't speak or understand Cebuano so going around the city did not become an option. My Internet research brought me to Kuya Macky.

Kuya Macky (or Carilo Maquilang) appears to be the most recommended tourist guide/driver in Cebu. I texted him right away to reserve a day tour for me and the boys. We set the date and that was it. He never asked for a downpayment and assured me that he'll be there to meet us in our hotel. That was a month before our scheduled trip. He just texted me the night before our tour to confirm the location of our hotel and was there to meet us early the next day.

As it turned out, Kuya Macky is employed by a taxi operator in Cebu and it's like their added service. We rented his services for Php 2,500 from 8 am to 6 pm for the three of us. He knows his way in and around Cebu City and it was a relief that he speaks Tagalog! Our driver (his buddy) the following day wasn't and it was quite difficult conversing with him.

Anyways, since it was a Sunday, we were able to visit our scheduled destinations minus the traffic. Originally, we were scheduled to visit the Taoist Temple, Cebu Heritage Monument, Yap-San Diego Ancestral Home, Casa Gorordo, Magellan's Cross and the Basilican Minore del Santo NiƱo, Fort San Pedro, Mactan Shrine/Lapu-Lapu Monument, and the Alegre Guitar factory. But we had extra time to kill so Kuya Macky brought us to TOPS and the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine in Baragay Langob. Lastly, he brought us to the Crown Regency Hotel where the boys had their first Skywalk Extreme and Edge Coaster experience.

Should you be interested in hiring Kuya Macky as your driver/tour guide for the day, you can send him an SMS to +639062080724.

2010 I've been there twas my first time, cab drivers are friendly. One thing why I so love and admire the city is the easy access to public vehicles like cabs when you're in the malls or in the airport. Hey thanks for the recommendation. we'll probably look for mang macky once we touch down cebu anytime soon :)

Bookmarked this post! =) I've been to Cebu but didn't really roam around 'cause our trip there was just a stop over for Bohol. Next time I'm in Cebu, I will definitely contact Kuya Macky.

I love Cebu drivers, 2nd to those from Davao. I think i've been to Cebu so much this year that i can go about just commuting but there's nothing like the comforts of being in a cab.

Oh one driver offered me 1500 for a tour but i was alone. :P

Hiring trusted and good tour guide that is very familiar with the location is a big relief. You are lucky to have one.
We went to Cebu also last June, but we didn't have a day tour. We only spent two days at the Imperial Waterpark Resort & Spa. If and when we'll visit Cebu again, I'll remember to text Kuya Macky. Thanks for that info!
